"... It's not like I'm here by choice!"

Shiro Kamiya (Kamiya Shiro) is the only non-clone student at St. Kleio Academy. As most protagonists go, despite his struggles as the only "normal" student in a school of clones, Shiro is an honest character with a big heart. He is constantly encouraging the clones to pursue their heart's calling and is fiercely loyal to his friends. On the other hand, because he isn't a clone, he often finds it hard to relate to his friends and classmates. He also has a short temper and is often seen arguing with his good friend Freud, who never fails to remind Shiro that he is the oddball in their twisted academy. Even though he has to deal with the barrier that sets him apart from his classmates, Shiro's effort into understanding the world of the clones is truly wonderful. His personality and heart of gold allows him to touch the lives of his cynical classmates. His most notable friendship, other than the amusing adventures he has with Freud, Napoleon, and Ikku, is his friendship with the sweet and gentle Hitler, who is also the "odd man out". Shiro's struggles to adapt to St. Kleio Academy not only prove to be interesting and exciting, but also provoke many of the deeper issues this series puts into light. As the loveable protagonist of the series, he does not disappoint. Lastly, he has a slight crush on Marie Curie.

"I wish I had been born someone else... like Mozart."

Marie Curie (Marie Skłodowska Curie*) is the clone of the famous phsyicist and chemist, and the first clone in the series to reveal their frustration with their identity. Rather than having a passion for science, the cheerful and bright Marie Curie reveals to Shiro that she has a passion for music. With Shiro's encouragement and help, Marie Curie is allowed to leave St. Kleio to pursue her dreams in music. But, the day she leaves St. Kleio is the last time her friends ever hear from her...

"After all, you're not like us. We're clones."

Freud (Sigmund Freud*) is the clone of the famous neurologist who founded the psychoanalytic school of psychiatry, and, despite all the arguments and conflicts in views, is one of Shiro's closest friends at St. Kleio Academy. A somewhat cynical character, Freud never fails to remind Shiro just how little he understands about the life and feelings of a clone, which often results in quarrels between the two boys.
